The Art of Wind Ensemble

  • Singpore Chinese Cultural Centre (map)

"Art of Wind Ensemble", or AoWE, is AudioImage Wind Ensemble's flagship series of concerts that aims to expand the repertoire of our musicians and the discerning public. This  upcoming instalment promises to be no different, as we challenge our musicians to an "Extreme Make-over", Johan de Meij virtuosic work for wind orchestra that pays tribute to Russian composer, Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky. We also pay homage to Dmitri Shostakovich (March from Symphony No. 7 "Leningrad"), Gomitas Vartabed (Alfred Reed's "Armenian Dance Part One"), and Mdm Liang Yu Tao, a disabled lady who makes her living by selling tissue paper to passer-by at MRT stations - in Singaporean composer, Gu Wei's "Ode To The Forgotten". AoWE promises to be an aural treat for both seasoned and new listeners of the wind ensemble genre.
